Filming at the Park
After so many trials of rescheduling dates to film, I was able to film with Madelyn. Since most of her scenes were better suited outside, I suggested that we went to the park. I filmed her parts first and it took a lot of trial and error. Since the storyboard, my group and I made had a lot of running scenes, it was difficult to get a good shot. It was very sunny as well, so I had a hard time seeing the screen of my phone when recording so I wasn't able to clearly tell if my phone was positioned correctly.
There was supposed to be dialogue in this film but due to other the sound of other children at the park, it couldn't be done. To compromise, I suggested that we do voiceovers instead so it can be heard better. Since the grassy area that we chose to film other scenes in was next to the park, I had to angle my phone a specific way in order for the park to not show. This was because they were meant to represent two different places in the actual opening sequence so the audience would think the characters were in different locations. Again, it was slightly difficult to execute this properly because the sunlight kept getting in the way of my vision, but I managed to make it work.
After multiple takes of the same running scenes, it was my turn to be filmed. To keep consistency in camera quality, I handed Madelyn my phone to film. Unfortunately, I also had a lot of running scenes, so I practically had a mini exercise from continuously running for every take. Since I was the main cameraman of the group, I had to guide Madelyn and show her how to position the camera for the running scenes. After several minutes, my running scenes were filmed.
Madelyn and I saved the non-running scenes for last since they were easier to film. First, I placed the props that would be shown in the scene in their respective places. Then, I filmed the specific scene that was zooming in on the objects that had the names and initials written on them. Again, for my over-the-shoulder shots, Madelyn was filming. After all of that, I was able to wrap up the filming for both my and Madelyn's scenes.
