Production Blog: First Day Filming at the bench

Image
On Spetember 29, 2021 my group and I started filming for our commercial. The area we went to had very few, if any, people so it wasn't difficult to make sure no one else was in the background. We took our storyboard to see which scenes we should film first and decided to go in chronological order because we were going to use only one location anyway. For costumes, everyone remembered to wear their regular day-to-day clothing to make it seem more casual than formal. We also took pictures of everyone's clothing to make sure we remember to wear the same ones for the next day of filming. Before we started filmong we forgot to bring one of our props: blank paper. I had blank lined paper with me but we decided to go back to our classroom to retrieve a few sheets of blank printer paper. After that, we started recording the first scene, with me as the cameraman, and after a few takes we chose one that turned out the best and put them in a separate file for editing. The second scene too

First scene:   In the first scene, it will show a person trying to use  write with a random pen  but then they realize that it doesn't work (dried out/out of ink).   Second scene:   Then we cut to a scene where a backpack is being opened and a Paper Mate pen is being taken out of one of the pouches.    Third scene:   For this scene, there will be a jump  cut  showing the continuous writing with our product.   Fourth scene:   This scene will have a montage  of six pens getting in line side by side.    Fifth scene:    The last scene will just show the logo for Paper Mate  to finish the commercial off.    *Each scene will have music in the background.

Our group will be doing a commercial on pens, specifically Paper Mate. Based on our research, the audience will be seeing people using the mentioned brand of pens in writing.  Everyone in the commercial will be wearing regular clothes that they would wear on a normal day. Props will include our product (Paper Mate pens), regular paper, and a backpack. The music used will be upbeat in order to keep the audience engaged and interested. In the commercial, the people will be writing words/drawing sketches to show the purpose of the pens and display the quality. Conventions and Codes: 1. After observing different pen commercials, we've realized that one of the things they have in common is that there is almost always a close-up shot on the writing of the person using the specified pen.  2. Most of these commercials also utilize the zoom camera movement so that the name brand on the pen would be visible long enough for the audience to read its name. 3. All of these commercials also had

Props: My group will be making a commercial about pens. Specifically, Paper Mate pens so the number of props we need won't be an excessive amount. We will be using our product (Paper Mate pens), regular paper, and a backpack. Costumes: For the costumes, the actors (all three of us will alternate) will be wearing regular day-to-day clothes. If filming takes up more than one day, then everyone will make sure that the same exact clothes will be worn on the next filming day to prevent the audience from questioning the unnecessary costume change.  Schedule: On September 23, 2021: Our group will research any necessary things needed for this project. On September 23, 2021: We will have the planning done in regard to props, costumes, scheduling, location list, and backup plans. By September 29, 2021: The storyboard needed for this commercial will be done to make sure it lasts 30 seconds long. On October 1 and 5, 2021: We will film the actual commercial followed by writing a blog for our pr

For my first project, I have decided to do it as a group with two of my friends: Madelyn C. and Kennedy N. We all collectively agreed to work together and shared our contact information to keep in touch after school. I chose to work with them because having already worked with Madelyn before, I can determine that she will keep up with the project. This is my first time working with Kennedy, so I will use this project as an experiment to see how well we all can work together. We all also tend to procrastinate from time to time, so this will help us keep each other in check or if we need any help understanding anything. Furthermore, this will be our first major project, and we are all beginners in film-making, so we're looking forward to the group learning experience.      After some discussion, I was able to learn that Kennedy excels at art. She was able to provide us with a drawing she made, and Madelyn and I both thought it looked very decent. I am also a fairly decent artis

My name is Tasmia Kowcher, a sophomore at Fort Lauderdale high school taking the AICE Media Studies AS Level as one of my eight courses. I enjoy doing artistic things, such as drawing, painting, photography, alongside writing and reading. One of the reasons why I chose to take this class is to expand my artistic ability further by learning more about the film-making process and utilizing it.      As a child, I had a small hobby of drawing and coloring as it made me use my imagination and express myself on paper. Drawing is probably one of the few hobbies that stuck with me as I grew up, and probably will be in the future. Filming actually became an interest around the age of 12 where I used an editing app to make fantasy videos with my cousins who starred as actors. The only difference back then was our lack of planning. We would have our families meet up at a gathering and go off to a place where we could film with the audio being heard. I would direct and tell each of my cousins
