Production Blog; filming at a park

Image
On Saturday, my group members and I met up at the local library which had a small park and playground nearby. I was a frequent visitor of this library so I was able to introduce my group to this location for filming. I also took advantage of the multiple areas to make it seem like filming took place in multiple places. When one of my group members (Madelyn) and I had arrived at the set time, we started filming the first scene which was the introduction of characters. The other group member (Kennedy) lived far away from the location so she ended up being a few minutes late.  The filming for the first scene went pretty smoothly aside from taking multiple takes to get the wanted result. I was the camera person for the majority of filming so I had a vision of what certain scenes could look like on camera and what movements to utilize. For the second scene, I hid behind a bush and slowly made a panning movement for an introduction to what the characters looked like. Since there are two diff

Music Video Storyboard

Scene one: The first scene will be an introduction to two of the main characters by showing a close-up shot of them walking onto a sidewalk. Scene two:  The second scene will show the first main character fully and cut to a flashback of their past and how they were treated poorly for their lack of athletic abilities. Scene three: The third scene in our storyboard shows the second main character sitting on a bench with her Bible. Scene four: This scene will be a close-up of the Bible to clarify to the audience that it is the Bible to avoid confusion regarding the specificity of what the book is. Scene five: This scene will cut to the backstory/flashback for the second main character on how they were mistreated for their beliefs.  Scene six: This scene will introduce the third main character in our music video by showing her foot and panning up to show what she looks like. Scene seven: This scene, which will be a flashback, will have a cut-shot to the third character's backstory of h

Music Video Planning

Props:  For our music video, we decided to bring an old copy of the Bible which will be provided by Kennedy for the mention of religious views seen in the lyrics. We will also have a soccer ball for someone to play with by themselves to show their loneliness.  Costumes: For costumes, to display a depressing mood, we'll have the actors wear clothing that indicates being in a cold, gloomy environment. Since the temperature is generally low at this time of year, wearing heavy clothing won't be difficult to manage. They will also wear shirts that the majority of the population would find unattractive and/or childish. Schedule: On 11/12/2021, our group researched codes and conventions regarding sad pop songs to note down for our own music video. On 11/16/2021, our group planned out what props, costumes, schedule, where we will meet up, and our backup plan we will need. On 11/18/2021, the storyboard for our music video that will last no more than one minute and fifteen seconds will b

Research

For this music video, my group and I have decided to go through various different playlists to find songs at least two of us were familiar with. When we eventually found one, the remaining group member that wasn't familiar with it to listen to the song with the lyrics to grasp a better understanding of the meaning. Eventually, we decided to choose the song Freaks by Jordan Clarke, a pop song.  During our research we realized that the song did not have a music video, so we decided to get more information through other music videos with similar feelings. Since Freaks is a sad pop song, we searched up other sad songs and found the following: They use dark color schemes to represent gloomy and depressing feelings. Usually shot in night since it gives a darker mood. Daylight usually represents happy and lighter moods.    Use some sort of props (i.e. masks, clothes) that look unusual to stand out amongst the crowds.  Some videos had flashing lights to signify chaos  Symbolism on how ever

Another Group Blog

For my second project, I have decided to do it as a group with two of my friends: Madelyn C. and Kennedy N. They proved to be responsible partners on the previous project and so I have decided to work with them again. We all collectively agreed to work together and shared our contact information to keep in touch after school. I chose to work with them because having already worked with Madelyn before, I can determine that she will keep up with the project. We all also tend to procrastinate from time to time, so this will help us keep each other in check or if we need any help understanding anything. Furthermore, this will be our second major project, and we are all beginners in film-making, so we're looking forward to the group learning experience.      After some discussion, I was able to learn that Kennedy excels at art. She was able to provide us with a drawing she made, and Madelyn and I both thought it looked very decent. I am also a fairly decent artist, so Kennedy and

My name is Tasmia Kowcher, a sophomore at Fort Lauderdale high school taking the AICE Media Studies AS Level as one of my eight courses. I enjoy doing artistic things, such as drawing, painting, photography, alongside writing and reading. One of the reasons why I chose to take this class is to expand my artistic ability further by learning more about the film-making process and utilizing it.      As a child, I had a small hobby of drawing and coloring as it made me use my imagination and express myself on paper. Drawing is probably one of the few hobbies that stuck with me as I grew up, and probably will be in the future. Filming actually became an interest around the age of 12 where I used an editing app to make fantasy videos with my cousins who starred as actors. The only difference back then was our lack of planning. We would have our families meet up at a gathering and go off to a place where we could film with the audio being heard. I would direct and tell each of my cousins
