Editing: Putting the Scenes together

Image
Finally, the filming is officially completed. So on to the next step: editing. I needed to find a better editing software than the one my group and I used last time was difficult to function. So my groupmates and I researched different video editors that all of us will be able to utilize. I tried looking for free online software to edit with and came across a few promising ones. One of my groupmates found one as well and my group and I decided on the video editor called Kapwing. Looking through it, I noticed that there was a functioning share feature that allowed my groupmate to send the project through email and provide editing access.  I noticed that I have to open the project directly from my email due to having to pay on the site itself, but I was able to access it. Looking at it, one of my groupmates already started editing, and I decided to add more to it. I made sure to find and separate all the scenes that will be used and left out the bloopers. I had to cut some parts of the s

Filming at the Library

Image
For the second day of filming, I went to my local library to film with my other partner, Kennedy. Since I filmed all of my scenes on the first filming day, I only brought a water bottle and a sharpie along with my phone. I was first to arrive at the location and let Kennedy know where I was waiting. However, she replied saying that there was a car accident and she was stuck in traffic. This delayed filming for around ten to twenty minutes, but she managed to arrive to the library.  Once Kennedy arrived, I followed her inside the library. She and I looked for areas that were void of any people. The library was generally quiet with a small amount of people so it wasn't difficult to find a spot to film. I found a small area at the back of the library and it worked well with what was planned in the storyboard. I was about to start filming until Kennedy and I realized that the prop had to be ready and in position to film.  The sharpie I brought with me was purple. I thought it would sh

Filming at the Park

Image
After so many trials of rescheduling dates to film, I was able to film with Madelyn. Since most of her scenes were better suited outside, I suggested that we went to the park. I filmed her parts first and it took a lot of trial and error. Since the storyboard, my group and I made had a lot of running scenes, it was difficult to get a good shot. It was very sunny as well, so I had a hard time seeing the screen of my phone when recording so I wasn't able to clearly tell if my phone was positioned correctly.  There was supposed to be dialogue in this film but due to other the sound of other children at the park, it couldn't be done. To compromise, I suggested that we do voiceovers instead so it can be heard better. Since the grassy area that we chose to film other scenes in was next to the park, I had to angle my phone a specific way in order for the park to not show. This was because they were meant to represent two different places in the actual opening sequence so the audience

Change of Scheduling

Image
The scheduling for my group's filming has be altered. My group and I were supposed film on Monday as that was the only day everyone could come together to film. However, there were some difficulties regarding bad weather which caused us to cancel filming for that day. I talked to both group members to find a new date to film without any interruptions. But, I found out that there were no other days to film together as a group.  The previous date in which I had to film with my group, it had started raining which didn't allow for meet ups at the library. So I worked on the music to make up for lost time while the others did their respective work. When talking with Madelyn to schedule a new filming date, she told me that the only day she would be available was on Mondays. However, when talking with Kennedy, she stated that the only days she would be able to film were on the weekends. These restrictions hindered the entire group from getting together as a whole.  After thinking it o

Change of Plans

My group and I were supposed to film today at the Oakland Park Library today. But I ran into difficulties and after delayed communications, my group members did as well. When trying to reach out to my group members, there was a large storm with heavy winds near the area I lived in. It wasn't a problem at first, but then a few minutes into the storm, my power flickered out. This prevented further research for the film and contacting my group members.  Due to weather problems and lack of communication, my group and I weren't able to meet up today to film. Regardless, none of the filming could have been done because it started raining as well. Since the majority of the filming would happen outside, there was no progress made. To make up for lost time, I continued to work on the music that would possibly be used for the final task. I say 'possible' because one of my group members is researching royalty free music to see if it can be used for our project.  I was able to work

Production: Prop and Costume Preperation

Image
My group and I have planned for each member to bring props pertaining to their own scene. I will have to bring a piece of construction paper. For it to stand out, I will bring colored paper and use a thick black marker to write on it so that it will be readable on camera. The story will need it to be glowing as well. In order to do this, I will utilize a flashlight to accomplish that.  The scene in which I will act will be set in the playground that is near the library. As it is a playground where young people hang out or play, I will wear casual clothes. This film is meant to show three ordinary girls finding out about their fates for the first time. It will only make sense for me to wear my casual clothes instead of fancy or elaborate fabrics which will only throw off the audience. I informed my two other groupmates to do the same.  The use of the paper will be for it to catch my character's attention. In case of windy weather, I will place a heavy object (preferably a rock) on t

Production: Music

Image
Starting off the Final Task production with music, my group and I had a discussion and made a few decisions. One of my group mates will be looking into royalty-free music. It was later brought up that in case none of the royalty-free music fit, I could make a custom one. I have experience with developing music which will be useful for this task. Thus, the music will partially fall under my responsibility.  Alongside my courses, I am also in a Music Tech class in which everyone learns how to utilize a digital audio workstation (DAW). The DAW I will be utilizing is called SoundTrap. it provides me with multiple features in which I can freely insert loops and edit to what it is deemed fitting. Since I already have a general idea of what vibe I want the music to be, it will become less of an obstacle. This means that I will not have to worry about going through every single loop to see what I should choose.  To start off with the mysterious vibe, I have decided that I will use a loop calle

Planning: Storyboard

Image
Scene 1: Starting off the opening sequence with a black screen that will have background noise of someone huffing due to running, leaving the audience curious. Scene 2: The scene cuts to a low shot of our first character running in what appears to be the woods. To amplify this scene, sounds of crunching leaves will be added for a more dramatic effect.  Scene 3: Another scene cuts in to show the lower half of the second person who is also running where it seems to be a playground/park.  Scene 4: The screen fades to black again for the words “Pink Studio Presents…” which will fade in as well and stay there for a few seconds before fading out. Scene 5: The words “TMK Corp.” fade in after the previous scene, replacing the words.  Scene 6: Then the screen fades out and blurs in on an over-the-shoulder shot of a person in a library who is starting to approach a glowing object. The character exhales a “woah…” in fascination and wonder.  Scene 7: Cuts to a close-up on the glowing object as the
