Production Blog; filming at a park

On Saturday, my group members and I met up at the local library which had a small park and playground nearby. I was a frequent visitor of this library so I was able to introduce my group to this location for filming. I also took advantage of the multiple areas to make it seem like filming took place in multiple places. When one of my group members (Madelyn) and I had arrived at the set time, we started filming the first scene which was the introduction of characters. The other group member (Kennedy) lived far away from the location so she ended up being a few minutes late.

The filming for the first scene went pretty smoothly aside from taking multiple takes to get the wanted result. I was the camera person for the majority of filming so I had a vision of what certain scenes could look like on camera and what movements to utilize. For the second scene, I hid behind a bush and slowly made a panning movement for an introduction to what the characters looked like. Since there are two different characters in the first few scenes, one of the scenes for one of the characters will be mirrored to show that they are coming from different directions. When Kennedy had arrived we were able to film group shots that were needed later in the sequence of scenes.

For a few scenes, we needed extra actors so Madelyn and I convinced our younger brothers to play the part of bullies. It took thirty minutes to get them to cooperate as they kept going off track by playing with a ball. After they complied, my group and I were able to move on and film the rest of the scenes. There were some benches nearby, so we took our stuff and started filming the flashbacks. Midway through one of the scenes, one of the props (an old book) ended up ripping in half due to carelessness. I had to improvise by holding the book in a certain way so that it didn't seem obvious on camera. Since Madelyn and I were actors for this scene, Kennedy filmed instead.

Some of the ending scenes required all three of us to be shown at the same time. For this, I decided to prop my phone down and used the front camera to film. The beginning and ending parts of some of the takes will have to be cut out because I can be seen in front of the camera after I start recording and when I approach the phone to stop recording. We had to finish filming quickly because the sun was starting to set and that would cause more suspicion on why the scenery kept changing in the music video when it wasn't supposed to.
