Intro Blog Finale

     Hello again! Tasmia Kowcher here, from Fort Lauderdale High School and the AICE Media studies course. My instructors had informed us about the final task everyone will be completing and I am looking forward to the process. With more than half a year's worth of knowledge, I am excited to showcase the experience I have obtained. Before everything had even bloomed, I had minimal experience in terms of editing and filming. But now, after half a year's worth of learning, making mistakes, and growing, I believe that this final task will be a great progress examination. 

    Growing up, I had a small hobby of drawing and coloring as it made me use my imagination and express myself on paper. Filming actually became an interest around the age of twelve when I used an editing app to make fantasy videos with my cousins who starred as actors. The only difference back then was our lack of planning. My cousins and I would meet up at a gathering and go off to a place where we could film with the audio being heard. I would direct and tell each of my cousins what to do and how the timing should be, maintaining stable arm movements as well since I was also the cameraman. Editing was also another task I had to do and enjoyed experimenting with different special effects and music. At the time I wasn't experienced with this type of software, so it seemed like an accomplishment when random explosions or freeze rays would show up on the edited videos. 

    Fast-forwarding to the present, I now have gained experience within the Media studies course. I was able to improve my cooperation when developing films with peers since before, I would handle everything alone. I was also introduced to proper editing software, learning more about various effects and formatting of clips. Before, I would focus on filming things in order scene by scene, but now I am aware I can film out of order and format them correctly later during the editing process. My filming experience had grown developed further as well. Compared to the past, I was able to get a more advanced device with a high-quality camera, capturing more details within my projects. Overall, these were some of the many advancements my skills have gone through. I am excited to showcase my better understanding in regards to film-making through this final task.

Production Blog; further editing

Today, my group and I got together to do some further editing. At home, I was able to open up the project but it would not let me properly edit. So, my members and I decided to group together to work on it on a single computer. The audio being used had to be temporarily taken out because it couldn't be heard. After taking the audio out, the unfinished video could be seen for us to properly edit.  When my group and I were able to start, we decided to go over the video to refresh our memory on what work needed to be done. The music video so far was only one minute and twenty-eight seconds but it had to be one minute and fifteen seconds. One of the scenes had to be cut out completely which shortened the video by four seconds. We had to cut out another scene as well because it felt as if it was redundant. With the scene cut out, it helped the video flow more smoothly because it fit like a transition.  One of the scenes that had to be cut was one that had Madelyn sitting alone near...

Filming at the Park

 After so many trials of rescheduling dates to film, I was able to film with Madelyn. Since most of her scenes were better suited outside, I suggested that we went to the park. I filmed her parts first and it took a lot of trial and error. Since the storyboard, my group and I made had a lot of running scenes, it was difficult to get a good shot. It was very sunny as well, so I had a hard time seeing the screen of my phone when recording so I wasn't able to clearly tell if my phone was positioned correctly.  There was supposed to be dialogue in this film but due to other the sound of other children at the park, it couldn't be done. To compromise, I suggested that we do voiceovers instead so it can be heard better. Since the grassy area that we chose to film other scenes in was next to the park, I had to angle my phone a specific way in order for the park to not show. Production Blog; putting the scenes together

 My group and I decided to get together to begin the editing process. Kennedy had brought her personal computer and opened up editing software and began putting the scenes together. Since all the recordings were on my phone, I had to select all the scenes that were going to be used and send them to both Kennedy and Madelyn to look over. Once the website was open, Madelyn and I made an account on Clip Champ. Then Kennedy tried sending the project to our respective emails but there was a connection issue.  After several minutes, I was able to receive the video. However, the computer I was using wasn't working properly (it wasn't my personal one), so the software wasn't loading. After a few minutes, I decided to edit using Kennedy's laptop where we both went through the music video scenes.
