Genre Research: Sci-Fi
Hello, Today we are researching, the genre for our movie. One of the genres we are considering is SciFi.
When researching we noticed that in Sci-Fi movies, some common camera angles are Extreme long shots to show something extremely big like a spaceship or something. Birds Eyeshot to show the roads and buildings. A close-up to show that the characters have very intense emotions, and for small things like small space rock, to look big. One last Camera Angel we noticed is a high-angle shot which is typical to show one character is powerless and vulnerable.
We also noticed that in sci-Fi movies, is that they typically wear something that reflects what life is in that world is like, If they are in a middle of a battle they wear armor, if they are royals they are dressed in prim and proper.
Most sci-fi films use sci-fi make up which is called SFX. They give the actors abnormal features, wounds, animal features, that you wouldn't see normally. They can also use makeup as a type of green screen and edit the actor to look a certain way.
That being said in a lot of sci-fi films, they use a lot of green screens in some sci-fi scenes, there are no backdrops just green screens, because sometimes the director's vision, cant be made in real life.
In sci-fi movies, one common sound is the sound of clashing swords. This is typically in a battle scene typically in a previous era, without electricity.
The films we researched to get a better understanding of Sci-Fi are Dune, Black Widow, Avengers End Game, and A Wrinkle in time.
Some elements we would like to use are mind control, aliens, the unknown, and teleportation.
Some elements we would not like to use are Fictional words and parallel universes.
We would want to stay away from parallel universes because it would be really hard to edit and convey. Fictional words because it's hard to make up a whole language and ultimately, we would have a hard time keeping a straight face.
This is a lot of information and we are definitely considering this genre, however, there are still so many more to consider. Hopefully, our decision process ends well. Wish us luck!
