Production: Prop and Costume Preperation

My group and I have planned for each member to bring props pertaining to their own scene. I will have to bring a piece of construction paper. For it to stand out, I will bring colored paper and use a thick black marker to write on it so that it will be readable on camera. The story will need it to be glowing as well. In order to do this, I will utilize a flashlight to accomplish that.

The scene in which I will act will be set in the playground that is near the library. As it is a playground where young people hang out or play, I will wear casual clothes. This film is meant to show three ordinary girls finding out about their fates for the first time. It will only make sense for me to wear my casual clothes instead of fancy or elaborate fabrics which will only throw off the audience. I informed my two other groupmates to do the same.

The use of the paper will be for it to catch my character's attention. In case of windy weather, I will place a heavy object (preferably a rock) on top of the paper so it will stay put. This will occur prior to filming so the cameraperson will know where to film. If the placement of the rock and paper looks odd, I will find a space within the playground in which I can stick the paper while making it stick out for my character to notice. It will be reasonable for it to be placed this way so the audience is not confused as to how the character miraculously noticed a special piece of paper.

I will most likely be the camera person throughout the majority of the filmmaking process. Therefore, I will have to make sure the placement of props is properly placed. In the last scene, the screen will show two glowing lights emitting from the woods. In order for that to work, I advised that my two partners will use flashlights from their phones, and then during the editing process, it can be made to look dimmer and less harsh. Overall, the props and costumes that will be used were able to be found and planned for use.
