Genre Decision

Hello, today we are finally deciding on our genre. Yay, we are so excited. First, we conducted research on viable genres that we could use for this opening sequence. This was a really hard decision as we were really interested in all three genres. In the end, however, we’ve decided on making our final task a fantasy genre. This genre is basically the one where supernatural concepts such as mind-controlling and aliens. The costumes and makeup are made to look like they are different from what is usually worn on Earth.

We came to this decision because after discussion and deliberation we’ve learned that some concepts in fantasy movies are also incorporated in fantasy movies. Also, we could better incorporate and express Fantasy than we could Sci-Fi. We also wanted to challenge ourselves a little. However, we wanted to make sure that the task at hand was not impossible. Thriller, on the other hand, is a bit much for our storyline. It would be harder to visualize and make a thriller, but we were still interested so we decided to do some research on it regardless.

Fantasy is so diverse and we have the space to learn and explore within the genre. We can have superheroes and other worlds. We could incorporate flashing lights and dark figures within the opening sequence. Fantasy also allows us to make edits, to the film add a few special effects, which is what makes Fantasy so interesting and diverse. We could make really cool battle scenes. This would be awesome since our storyline is about three characters encountering specific objects that have their names engraved onto them. Two other names would later appear, an indication that they were destined to meet. They later go and follow the path that fate has set for them. We could expand on the topic, and go more in-depth story-telling. In the duration of the introduction of credits, we could include special effects as a means of transitioning between titles.

Next, we need to do more in-depth research on Fantasy to learn how to convey it. Hopefully, everything goes well, wish us luck!
